The goal and intent is for you, through the art of photography, to defy all things COVID (and the drain of the nightly news) and show the world as you see it, or would like to see it, with an emphasis on people. Every photo should show something of hope, humanity, and a sense of community. There are no real rules other than each photo must contain a human element of some sort. That’s it. Black & White, color, legacy processes, pinhole, large format, cell phone images….whatever you want to use to express your view of how life can and should be.
We are assembling a panel of professional photographers along with a gallerist to judge the work. Read on, ask questions if you need any help or clarification. Most importantly, have fun with this, and create some great work. We look forward to your entry!

The Grand Prize will be the design and printing of a photobook featuring the winner’s work. The book will be sized up to 12x9 inches with a page count of up to 76 pages. Premium paper (such as McCoy coated or Mohawk uncoated sheets) will be used, with a soft cover binding method. Covers will be film laminated with flaps, front and back. Text will be sewn and PUR bound. Quantity will be up to 250 copies. (note: these specifications are patterned after our most popular editions – and can be altered slightly to the winner’s specifications. Brilliant will work with the winner to pattern specifications and may vary slightly from the aforementioned production overview.) The value of this prize is estimated between $4,500 and $5,000.
The People’s Choice Award will be a framed or acrylic mounted print up to a size of 30x40 inches. The winner can choose between a framed print with moulding and 8-ply matte from Brilliant’s selections. If the acrylic mount option is chosen, the finished piece will have polished edges and framing hardware included. The value of this prize is estimated between $1,500 and $2,000.
The Honorable Mention Award is in the form of a $1,000 certificate, redeemable for any of the services provided by Brilliant including scanning, printing, mounting, etc.

The Brilliant Photo Contest is open to all professional and amateur photographers who are 18+ at the time of entry.
Giveaway ends September 30, 2020 at 11:59 PM (EDT) and available to Brilliant customers, friends and followers world-wide. By entering the contest, you agree to receive special offers from Brilliant.
By submitting a photo to this photo contest, entrants certify that their participation in this photo contest is not illegal or in violation of any laws or regulations.
Brilliant reserves the right to reject any entry if the laws of a jurisdiction, including but not limited to the entrant’s jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry, would prohibit Brilliant from awarding any prize if it imposes administrative, tax, operational, or legal burdens for Brilliant.
The Photo Contest begins at 8AM (EDT) on July 31, 2020 and ends at 11:59pm (EDT) on September 30, 2020. Entries submitted before or after the entry period will not be eligible for the contest. Brilliant’s computers are the official timekeeper for the contest.
Images will be judged on a blend of originality, artistic and technical merit.
You are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals in your image and must be able to supply the release to Brilliant upon request.
Submissions may be watermarked if desired, but a watermark-free version of the image must be supplied to Brilliant upon request. Any entrant who is unable to supply a watermark-free image may be disqualified.

Brilliant reserves the right to determine entry eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion.
All images must be submitted through our photo submission website. Digital images that are sent via mail or email will not be accepted. If possible, please embed the photographer’s name and caption information in the photo’s metadata.
The entry forms contain required fields for information about the photo, category to be entered, and contact information for the entrant, including an email address.
Entrants must also follow Brilliant on at least one platform of social media to be eligible for the contest.
Entrants will be asked to provide the following information in the contest entry process:

Brilliant reserves the right to remove entries that do not comply with these Official Rules. By entering, you indicate your unconditional agreement to, and acceptance of, these Official Rules and Brilliant’s decisions, which are final and binding.
Entrants may be asked to supplement their submission with more explanation about the photo or to provide a higher resolution version of the photo anytime during the contest period.

Judging will be conducted by a select group of photo and industry professionals. Photos will be judged by the panel on originality, technical excellence, composition, and overall impact and expression of the theme.
All judging decisions are final. Please do not contact us about the status of entries or judging.
All winners will be announced on Brilliant-Graphics.com and Brilliant social media. The judges are carefully reviewing all submitted photos. Stay tuned, we will announce the winners soon. Brilliant will notify the winners via the contact information provided at the time of entry.

To the maximum extent permissible by law, all winners are responsible for paying any taxes and any and all other costs and expenses associated with claiming the awards, including but not limited to customs fees, taxes, and any other administrative costs, if applicable. Any prize details not specified above will be determined by Brilliant, in its sole discretion. A prize may not be transferred and must be accepted as awarded. A winner may not request cash or a substitute prize; however, Brilliant reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value if the prize is not available for any reason, as determined by Brilliant, in its sole discretion.
You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit—including ownership if applicable.
If you submit a photograph to the Photo Contest, you grant Brilliant and its related entities such as affiliates and subsidiaries a royalty-free, non-exclusive right in perpetuity to:
Brilliant will endeavor to credit all photographs with the entrant’s name when the full name is available.
In the event that the operation or security of the photo contest is impaired in any way, Brilliant may suspend the photo contest to fix the impairment and then resume the photo contest; or award the prize(s) from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. In the event of a dispute as to the owner of an online entry, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to enter will be deemed to be the owner. The Photo Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
By entering, you agree to release and hold harmless Brilliant, affiliates, and each of their employees from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Photo Contest or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Photo Contest; (b) technical errors; (c) printing errors; (d) late or undelivered mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Photo Contest; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property. You waive the right to claim any attorneys’ fees and any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.
When you enter, you will automatically opt into emails from Brilliant. This includes special event invitations, digital messages, text, and a monthly e-newsletter. You may cancel and unsubscribe at any time.
Any information you submit as part of the Photo Contest will be used in accordance with Brilliant’s Privacy Policy. The information you provide when you enter is provided to Brilliant. Except where prohibited, you consent to Brilliant’s use of your name in any list of winners (if applicable) and/or for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration.
